Obesity is a condition that faces millions of people each day. Many young children as well as adults are obese. With the society that we live in, it is very hard to stay fit. Fast food has almost become a necessity with the busy schedules people of today keep. Unfortunately, all these bad eating habits have contributed to millions of people becoming overweight.

Obesity is closely linked with a person being diagnosed with diabetes type 2. Being obese cannot make you a diabetic, but if you are overweight and have a family history of diabetes then it certainly can be a contributing factor in developing the disease. Being overweight causes your blood glucose levels to rise. In a person with diabetes type 2 who is already having a problem with keeping their glucose levels at an acceptable level, this is a big problem.

Being overweight increases your chances of developing hypertension, heart disease or stroke. These are conditions that can also develop from complications caused by diabetes. Therefore, if you are diabetic and overweight then your chances of developing one or more of these conditions doubles compared to a person who is not overweight. This is why it is so important for you to keep your weight under control especially if you have a family history of diabetes type 2.
